Heart Linzer Cookies
ingredients
dough
1 egg
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup of flour
jelly
3 strawberries
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon sugar
steps
1. grab a mixer and cream your butter, salt, and sugar together. The creamed butter should be coating the bowl of the mixer
in a light cream color when done.
2. pour in your vanilla and egg and continue mixing until you can't see any evidence of raw egg.
3. dump in your flour and mix slowly until the batter turns into dough. make sure all flour is collected.
4. set out 2 pieces of parchment paper. place the dough onto one and place the other piece on top. take out a rolling pin and
roll out the dough until it can fit to the sides of your baking pan.
5. place the dough into the fridge for 20 minutes.
6. while the dough is in the fridge, cut up about 3 strawberries. turn on your stove to high heat and place a pan with
water, sugar, and the strawberries. there should be smoke rising but don't panic, this is normal.
7. swirl around the mixture until thick. you can check by leaning the pan and seeing if the jelly coats the surface.
8. when thick, turn off the heat and wait for it to cool to room temp, then put into fridge until needed
9. take the dough out after 20 mintues to start shaping them! take off the parchment paper and start cutting out your cookies. the recipe makes
5 cookies s their should be 5 cookies whole and 5 cookies with a hole to show the jam.
10. when cookies are cut-out and placed on a separate piece of parchment paper, bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
11. take out the cookies and when waiting for them to cool down, check on the jelly and preferrably put it on the cookies with no hole.
12. shift powdered sugar on top the cookies with a hole.
13. assemble and enjoy!
